about db

db viceversa is eclectic. Leslie McCombs is pretty close to being the epitome of random, never able to decide on any one style because she finds them all so interesting and worthy of exploration; touching on all styles from pearls to punk, maybe even together, and everything in between!

db is handmade from start to finish. The process begins with a rough sketch and ends when the jewelry is packaged up and sent off to you, every piece being individually crafted and cared for by Leslie. Developed with the use of varying techniques such as benchwork, wax carving and sculpture, lost wax casting, and stone-setting, using only precious metals including sterling silver (925) and 14-18k gold (750), decorated with precious and semi-precious stones.

about the artist

Leslie's first taste of Rome came about during her last year of college. A graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, majoring in Media Art, with an Art History minor, Leslie studied art history abroad in Rome, and found the Eternal City had so much to offer that one short semester was just not enough time. She later returned to Rome to try her hand at metalsmithing.

Leslie attended L'Accademia delle Arti Orafe (Jewelry-Making Art Academy) in Rome, completing every course they had to offer; metalsmithing, stone-setting, wax modeling & sculpture, and chasing & repouseé, providing her with a solid background in the field. She then worked at Oro Project (Gold Project) in Italy producing their high-end collection of white gold jewelry with precious stones. Since January of 2007, she has been on her own, creating the original jewelry of
db viceversa.

Leslie is now back in the USA, setting up shop and participating in markets, shows, and having jewelry parties across the country. Check out the "news" page to find out where you can catch her.

about jewelry

Jewelry is history. The most ancient cultures as we know it wore jewelry, and we still do today. Why? It's simple, because we like it. Jewelry makes us feel good. It can be as meaningful as a promise - a wedding band. It can keep a family together - an heirloom. It can be your best friend - a diamond! Fun, simple, the piece that "makes" your outfit, anyway you look at it, jewelry is a beautiful thing.
